Hello! My name is MooingCat and welcome to my strategy guide for the 2022 St Patrick's Day Event! In this guide I will go through a bunch of different strategies for the event, ranging from super chill "3 towns" strategy to hectic (but rewarding) "12+ towns" strategies! This guide is a part of a series of guides and videos, you can find all the other parts here:

Strategies - Basic Concepts / Recommendations

A lot of the strategies I'm about to go over share some common concepts and recommendations, so instead of repeating those each time I will explain them here, and then explain any differences from these in the different strategies.

Celtic Farmstead Level Sources

There are 4 different ways of getting levels for the Celtic Farmstead:

Source Amount
Milestones 3
Event Surprise Box 1
Grand Prizes 1 per 3 GPs
After Town Rewards 1 per 6/6 Boxes

The first two are constant, so it's the number of levels from grand prizes and after-town rewards that differ from strategy to strategy. Below you'll find a list of available Grand Prizes, it loops back around after the 15th prize:

Number Prize Number Prize Number Prize
1 Celtic Farmstead Up. 6 Wishing Well 11 Gigantic Medals
2 50 Forge Points 7 Celtic Farmstead Up. 12 Tactician's Tower Up.
3 Shrine of Knowledge 8 Wishing Well Shrink 13 Celtic Farmstead Up.
4 Celtic Farmstead Up. 9 Tectician's Tower lv1 14 Renovation Kit
5 Sentinel Outpost lv1 10 Celtic Farmstead Up. 15 Sentinel Outpost Up.

Pots of Gold

The core concept of different strategies is managing the number of pots you spend on managers and after-town boxes. Going heavy on tasks for grand prizes means more towns and more pots spent on managers, while a focus on after town boxes and selection kits from buying 6 boxes will mean you spend more on boxes (that doesn't necessarily mean more "good" after town rewards - but more on that later!). In total, you can get 11,200 pots for free:

  • Starting amount: 200
  • Daily Logins: 22*100 = 2200
  • Rush Quests: 35*100 = 3500
  • Daily Quests: 21*150 = 3150
  • Milestones: 750+1400 = 2150
  • Total: 11 200 pots

However, this does not account for incidents and the newsletter. Both of these are great sources of pots, last year I got 500 from the newsletter (limited to 1 world) and 1250 from incidents. Therefore, you can expect somewhere between 11k and 13k pots. Unless specified, I will base my strategies on the 11.2k number, so any pots beyond that are extra pots that you can spend on additional after-town rewards.

Quest "Cheat Sheet"

As usual, I like to note down quests you need to plan around. This is quite a subjective list of what I consider "blocker" quests, or quests you can't complete immediately, but you might struggle with other quests than I do. You can find a complete list on the fandom wiki if you want a complete list. This "cheat sheet" only includes the part of a task that I consider challenging:

Manager Levels

For most strategies, I recommend the following manager levels. This is in my opinion the optimal balance between pots spent and tasks completed.

Town 1Town 2Town 3
Festival333
Shipyard233
Hats311
Flowers232
Cake112
Drinks221
Fireworks222

Tasks Completed

With the managers listed above, you can complete up to 36 tasks in each town. However, some of these are very slow, so my base recommendation is that you complete 33, 32, and 32 tasks in towns 1, 2, and 3. This means that you skip the following tasks:

Town 1 Town 2 Town 3
22. Upgrade Cake Factory Manager to Level 3 18. Hire Level 3 Cake Factory Manager 20. Hire Level 3 Drinks Factory Manager
25. Upgrade Shipyard Manager to Level 4 33. Upgrade Flowers to Level 200 23. Upgrade Festival Manager to Level 4
36. Collect 16Q Shamrocks 35. Upgrade Shipyard Manager to Level 4 35. Upgrade buildings 200 times
37. Upgrade buildings 250 times 36. Collect 18Q Shamrocks 36. Collect 12Q Shamrocks
38. Upgrade Fireworks to Level 75 37. Generate 200B Hats in Hat Factory 37. Upgrade Drinks to Level 100
38. Upgrade buildings 200 times 38. Generate 10Q Drinks in Drinks Factory

Task 36 in towns 1/2 (collect X quadrillion shamrocks) could be completed if timing works out better. For example, if you would get 8.4Q shamrocks in the middle of the night you can wait until the morning, completing task 36 as well :) Click the button below for a complete list of tasks:

Building Upgrade Plans

To complete the tasks above, you need to take care of when and how you level up your buildings. You can find my recommended upgrade orders in my spreadsheet (https://bit.ly/StPatricksBuildingPlan), or you can use this image version if you want:

I think the plans are quite self-explanatory: Upgrade the buildings in the order laid out (left to right), if two or more buildings are in the same column upgrade them simultaneously. The levels inside the "Upgrade X" brackets should be upgraded while the "Upgrade building X times" task is active, and other than that just collect tasks as they complete :) I've also made video walkthroughs of the guide, if you prefer video or want to see the plans in action as well!

Which Strategy Should I Go For?

I've made this simple flowchart to help you decide which strategy is best for you :)

"Super Chill" - 3 Towns Strategy

This strategy requires the least amount of effort on your part, but you must have the event surprise box for it to work. The strategy is:

  • Complete 3 towns (max 1 week per town)
  • Use my recommended manager levels and building upgrade plans
  • Complete 34, 34, 32 tasks in the towns (100 total)
  • Buy 6 boxes after all 3 Towns
  • Buy an additional set of 6 boxes after one of the towns

For the tasks you should complete my recommended tasks, and 3 additional tasks (for 100 total). This could be any of the remaining tasks, or even 3 quick tasks in a 4th town, but easiest would probably be one additional task in town 1 (36. Collect 16Q Shamrocks), and two additional tasks in town 2 (33. Upgrade Flowers to level 200, and 36. Collect 18Q Shamrocks). In total, this will cost:

  • Managers: 620 + 710 + 630 = 1960
  • Boxes: 3*1900 + 3900 = 9600
  • Total: 11 560 Pots of Gold

This means you need 360 pots from incidents / newsletter. This is easily done by using the newsletter (was 500 pots last year), or by picking up incidents for a couple of days (I got 1250 last year). This will give you the following Celtic Farmstead kits:

  • Milestones: 3
  • Surprise Box: 1
  • End of town: 4
  • Grand Prizes: 2
  • Total: 10

"Classic" with Surprise Box - 4 Towns Strategy

This strategy requires the event surprise box. The strategy is:

  • Complete 4 towns (max ~5 days per town)
  • Use my recommended manager levels and building upgrade plans
  • Complete recommended tasks for 130 tasks. (you only need 100 tasks, so you get 1 extra grand prize: Sentinel Outpost Lv1)
  • Buy 6 boxes after all 4 Towns

In total, this will cost:

  • Managers: 2*620 + 710 + 630 = 2580
  • Boxes: 4*1900 = 7600
  • Total: 10 180 Pots of Gold

This means you have at least 1k spare pots. These can either be used on additional chests beyond the first 6/6, or if you want you can complete 1 more town for tasks and more boxes (you should be able to afford 4-6 boxes depending on how much you get from newsletter/incidents). This strategy will give you the following Celtic Farmstead kits:

  • Milestones: 3
  • Surprise Box: 1
  • End of town: 4
  • Grand Prizes: 2
  • Total: 10

"Classic" w/o Surprise Box - 5 Towns Strategy

This strategy does not require the event surprise box. The strategy is:

  • Complete 5 towns (max ~4 days per town)
  • Use my recommended manager levels and building upgrade plans
  • Complete recommended tasks for 162 tasks.
  • Complete a further 13 tasks in a 6th town (can be done in minutes, does not have to be completed)
  • Buy 6 boxes after 4 Towns

You need the following managers for the final town: Festival - 2, Shipyard - 1, Hats - 1, Flowers - 2, for a total of 150 pots. In total, this will cost:

  • Managers: 2*620 + 2*710 + 630 + 150 = 3440
  • Boxes: 4*1900 = 7600
  • Total: 11 040 Pots of Gold

This means you have 160 spare pots. You can use whatever you have spare to buy a few additional boxes and/or complete the 6th town.

  • Milestones: 3
  • End of town: 4
  • Grand Prizes: 3
  • Total: 10

"Speedrun" - 7 to 17 Towns Strategies

All of these strategies are the same at the core, so I will group them together into one table. The idea behind these strategies is to complete enough towns to get a certain number of Farmstead levels from Grand Prizes, with the remaining levels picked up by buying 6/6 boxes as many times as required.

The main benefit of going for such a strategy is that you have more control over which rewards you get from boxes. With the strategies listed above, you have to buy pretty much all boxes, regardless of if you are interested in the rewards or not. If you go for one of the "speedrun" strategies instead, you can pick and choose when you open boxes. You don't have to open 6/6 boxes after every town, so you can choose to do it when you get the reward(s) you are interested in. You will also have spare pots, which means you can buy some boxes after towns with rewards you want, even if you don't buy all 6 boxes. So say you get the Sentinel Outpost as an option: you can either spend pots until you get it, or if you have to buy all 6 boxes you count that as one of the 6/6 boxes you need.

The strategies will be slightly different depending on if you have the event surprise box or not. The difference is that if you have the surprise box you can buy 6/6 one time fewer, which means you can spread those pots of gold across the other towns as you see fit. In the 14+ strategies you're not buying 6/6 boxes after any towns, so for these strats the event surprise box will give you an extra kit, instead of saving some pots. Where the strategies differ the strategy with the event surprise box is marked with a "*":

Note 1: "Spare Pots" is what you can spend on additional boxes. This means that if you have to buy 6/6 boxes one or more times for the strategy, these pots are not counted as a part of the "spare pots".

Note 2: "Spare Pots" does not include newsletter/incident pots. This means that you will have more to spend on boxes than noted in the table. As you can see you have quite a lot of spare pots if you include newsletter/incidents, especially if you have the surprise box, so these can be used after towns on boxes as you please. This means some towns you might spend nothing, some towns a few hundred, and some towns the full 1900 for all boxes. I recommend keeping track of the amount spent (and amount gained from incidents), so that you know how many more boxes you can afford :)

**As you can see in the table some of these strategies require extra tasks. This means you need to start, but not finish, one more town. This will not take very long, 2 hours max though can usually be done in under an hour. For the 17-town strategy you do not need an additional town, for the 10-town strategy you need 1 extra task, but this can easily be completed with one of the "collect X quadrillion shamrock" tasks, or the first task in the 11th town (no managers required). For 7, 12, and 14 towns, though, you need an additional town. For these towns, you only need these managers (managers with * not technically required, but recommended for automation):

Final Town Managers"7 Towns" (Town 2)"12 Towns" (Town 1)"14 Town" (Town 3)
Festival312
Shipyard31*3
Hats1*1*1
Flowers21*2
Cake1*12
Drinks200
Fireworks000

My recommendation for the speedrun strategies is to aim for a lot of towns initially, and then adjust your strategy if necessary. If you have to buy 6/6 boxes one more time than your target strategy requires, you can simply move down to the one below it if you have too few remaining spare pots. Or, if you see that you have spare time and that you have underspent your target, you could decide to do additional towns for more grand prizes and box rewards. Last year my target was 14 towns, but in the end I ended up doing 16 :)

"Speedrun + Full Druid Temple" - 10 or 12 Town Strategy

In an update post on beta Inno announced that on live you will always get the Druid Temple Selection Kit as one of the box options after a town, and the chance of getting a Celtic Forest Selection Kit is higher than on beta. This is a massive upgrade for those who want to get a full Druid Temple in addition to a full Celtic Farmstead. In fact, you have a 60-70% chance of getting 10 Druid Temple kits for free (depending on how much you get from newsletter/incident), and with only one purchase of the big pots pack (1750 diamonds) you bring that chance up to 90%+, if you have the surprise box (and want Celtic Farmstead). Event without surprise box, you're looking at a 50/50 chance of getting 10, and a high chance of at least getting 8-9. And even if you don't get all 10 upgrade kits, you might have a spare or two from last year, or you can get the missing levels from the Antiques Dealer.

All this is to say, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND GOING FOR THIS!. This changes the after-town boxes from "meh" to "AMAZING!". At the bottom of this guide you will find a simulation where you can estimate your chances of getting up to 10 Druid Temple kits for free with your numbers, but after experimenting I've come up with 2 recommendations:

1) If you have the surprise box:

  • Go for 10-town speedrun strategy
  • Open boxes after every town, until you get the Druid Temple kit, then move on.
  • You have to open 6/6 boxes once, but you should be fine if you have to do it 2-3 times
  • When you end up buying 6/6 boxes (unless you have all Druid Kits you need), open up to 2 more boxes in the 2nd set of boxes.
  • With this strategy you have 4700 + newsletter/incident TOTAL pots to spend on boxes after towns. So keep track of the pots you have spare.

This strategy is not guaranteed to work. If you have to buy 6/6 boxes more than 2-3 times you will overspend pots. If this happens you have two choices, you can either spend some diamonds to keep going, or you can stop and get the remaining kits from the Antiques Dealer.

2) If you do not have the event surprise box:

  • Go for 12-town speedrun strategy
  • You need to get a Druid Temple kit from 10/12 towns, so
  • Open up to 4 boxes after every town (until you get enough Druid Temple kits)
    • If you get the Druid Temple kit, stop immediately and continue to next town
    • If you do not get the Druid Temple kit, move on to the next town the first two times this happens. After that you need to continue spending
  • You need to open 6/6 boxes once, doing it more than that might mean you can't get 10 kits for free
  • When you end up buying 6/6 boxes (unless you have all Druid Kits you need), open up to 2 more boxes in the 2nd set of boxes.
  • With this strategy you have 3260 + newsletter/incident TOTAL pots to spend on boxes after towns. So keep a track of the pots you have spare.

Again, this is not guaranteed to work, so if you overspend you have to decide if you want to spend diamonds, or end up with fewer kits.

If you need fewer than 10 kits for the Druid Temple, I still recommend the above strategies. It simply means you have more towns to skip, and a higher chance of success.

Another thing to consider is that you will also get other rewards by going for this strategy, including a couple of Sentinel Outposts, for example. Now, if you don't mind spending a few additional diamonds, you could update this strategy by opening boxes until you've gotten both the Druid Temple kit and Sentinel Outpost (if available). So it's up to you what you feel like spending, and if you want to get a lot of rewards this is definitely a nice event to spend diamonds on. Speaking of diamond spending, let's go over how to get 2+ Celtic Farmsteads!

"2 Celtic Farmsteads (+1 Druid Temple)" - 12 to 17 Towns Strategies

When going for 2 or more Celtic Farmsteads the strategy is quite simple - you use one of the "speedrun" strategies, and you buy 6/6 boxes enough additional times to get 2 fully leveled Farmsteads. Now, because you need enough towns to buy all of these 6/6 boxes, I would only recommend the 12+ town strategies. Doing fewer towns than that means you would have to buy a full second set of 6/6 boxes at least twice, and that's simply not worth it in my opinion. The 10 town strategy will cost at least 4k more diamonds than doing 12+ towns. And because of the update mentioned in the previous chapter (Druid Temple kit is guaranteed an option), going for 2 Celtic Farms will pretty much guarantee a fully leveled Druid Temple as well!

Values with a "*" indicate strategy with event surprise box.

Again, this does not include newsletter/incident pots. You can subtract around 1 diamond per 1.15 pots you get, so with my 1750 pots from last year I could subtract around 1.5k diamonds from the price, bringing the total cost of a second Farmstead to around 12k diamonds, with the surprise box :)

This means that for 12-13k with surprise box, or 14-15k without surprise box, you can get:

  • 2 Full Celtic Farmsteads
  • 1 Full Druid Temple
  • Probably 3-6 Celtic Forest Kits
  • Probably 3-6 Sentinel Outposts
  • More

That's very appealig IMO!

"3+ Celtic Farmsteads"

For 3+ Celtic Farmsteads I recommend checking out my spreadsheet, there you can find the tab "Diamond Spending Guide", which has an interactive calculator for how much it will cost to get multiple Farmsteads using different strategies. This event is quite special in that further main buildings will cost an increasing amount of diamonds, so I would probably stop at 2 or at most 3 if I were you :)
