2022 Fall Event Guide!

Hello! My name is MooingCat and welcome to my guide for the 2022 Fall Event! In this guide I will go through the mechanics of the event, the different rewards and my thoughts on which are best, as well as how to get the most out of this event!

I also have a video version of this guide if you prefer video!

Rewards: New Buildings

Before we get into the mechanics and strategies, let's have a quick look at the rewards you can get from this event, starting with the new ones!

Main Building: Sunflower Oil Press!

The main building for this event is the brand new Sunflower Oil Press! This building is good for developing cities and for people looking for FPs/Goods, but for attackers it's not the best. It does produce a few units, but no attack boosts.

Event Pass: Cobalt Blue Lagoon & Donkey Enclosure

In addition to the Sunflower Oil Press, there are two other new buildings in this event, the Cobalt Blue Lagoon and the Donkey Enclosure. Unfortunately, both of these can only be won through the Event Pass, and it only appears like you can get one of each. The Cobalt Blue Lagoon you can get immediately after spending 1200 Diamonds for the Event Pass, but the Donkey Enclosure requires 300 "stars". I'll go over that later, but for now it's enough to say that you will not get 300 stars with the free event currency, so getting the Donkey Enclosure requires spending a further 8-9k diamonds.

  • New "Limited" Building: Cobalt Blue Lagoon (Lv1)
    • Size: 2x2 (road required)
    • Limited Bonus: Doubles the first 2 buildings collected after you have collected the Cobalt Blue Lagoon. This is similar to the Blue Galaxy and can be used in combination with the Blue Galaxy for a 4x multiplication.
    • Uses: You can use this building for 5 collections, after which it turns into a simple decoration with 250 happiness and no bonus.

  • New Building: Donkey Enclosure (Lv1)
    • Size: 2x2 (road required)
    • Production: 1 Unit, 7 to 26 Goods (based on age (yup!))
    • Boost: 6-12% Defense Boost for attacking army (1.2-2.4 per tile)
    • Boost: 6-12% Defense Boost for city defense (1.2-2.4 per tile)

Grand Prizes + Event Pass

As seems to be standard now, you have two sets of "grand prizes". The main one you unluck as usual, with a second set of rewards locked beyond a 1200 diamond one-time payment (event pass, or "Fall Prizes"). The event pass is not required to get the main building, so if you're free to play (or don't think it's worth it) you can ignore them without losing anything. Below you can see lists of how these rewards appeared on beta, though there may be some changes on the live servers. (If there are I'll update this after the event has started)

Grand Prizes:

  1. 25 Forge Points
  2. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  3. Extra Large Medals Pack
  4. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  5. Rogue Hideout Shrink Kit
  6. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  7. 25 Forge Points
  8. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  9. Cider Mill Selection Kit
  10. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  11. Store Building
  12. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  13. Rogue Hideout
  14. Sunflower Oil Press Lv1
  15. Mill of Fall Selection Kit
  16. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  17. 25 Forge Points
  18. Sunflower Oil Press Upgrade Kit
  19. Wishing Well
  20. Back to Grand Prize 1.

Event Pass / Fall Prizes: For a complete list check here: https://forgeofempires.fandom.com/wiki/2022_Fall_Event#Fall_Bonus_Prizes I won't list all here (most are quite insignificant), but there are a few interesting ones:

  • 0) Cobalt Blue Lagoon (new building)
  • 7) Donkey Enclosure (new building)
  • 8) Sentinel Outpost Lv1
  • 10) Shrine of Knowledge Lv1 (with free currency this is the most you can get)
  • 12) Rogue Den
  • 14) Shrine of Knowledge Upgrade
  • 15) Donkey Enclosure (new building)

(then there doesn't seem to be more buildings)

Milestone Rewards for this event gives you some building pieces and event currency, as usual :)

Daily Specials

How many daily specials can you get? I will go into more detail further down in the guide, but my rough estimate is between 10 and 15 daily specials, assuming you get 185-200 ingredients.

Below you'll find a select list of daily specials from this event. This is not complete, so to see the complete list of daily specials (as they appeared on beta) you can check out the fandom wiki. I've split the daily specials into three sections: attack, forge points, and other (situational).

Attack Buildings (for attacking army):

  • Harvest Farm (Fall) Set
    • Reasons to get: Best attack per tile, in any age (but especially in lower ages). Good secondary rewards.
    • Size: Varies, for layouts see video below or: https://mooingcatguides.com/fall-set
    • Boost: Attack + Defense, amount varies | around 7-9 per DS | 1.5-1.83 per Tile (no roads required)
    • Other: Forge Points, Goods, Happiness, Coins Boost, Supply Boost, Medals (depends on layout)

  • Stage of Ages (Lv1)
    • Reasons to get: Best attack per daily special, good attack per tile, good additional rewards.
    • Size: 4x4 (road required)
    • Boost: 7-19% Attack | 7-19 per DS | 0.39-1.06 per Tile (including roads)
    • Other: 15 Previous Era Goods, 4 Forge Points, Population, Happiness

  • Winners' Plaza Lv2
    • Reasons to get: Good attack per tile, good attack per daily special
    • Size: 3x3 (road required)
    • Boost: 5-15% Attack | 2.5-7.5 per DS | 0.48 - 1.43 per Tile (including roads)
    • Other: Happiness

  • Checkmate Square (Lv1)
    • Reasons to get: Good attack per daily special, good attack per tile
    • Size: 3x3 (road required)
    • Boost: 5-11% Attack | 5-11 per DS | 0.48-1.05 per Tile (including roads)
    • Other: Population, Coins

  • Sentinel Outpost Lv. 1 + Up.
    • Reasons to get: Highest defense efficiency (in event & game), very small and easy to place, you know why it's good!
    • Size: 1x1 (no road required)
    • Boost: 2% / 4% Defense for Level 1 / 2

My recommendations: For most players I would recommend the Fall Set, it's simply amazing. Doesn't require any roads, highest efficiency, and also gives a decent amount of FP / Goods depending on your layout. For attack boost, the main alternative is the Stage of Ages. It has higher attack per daily special and good other rewards, though not as high efficiency as the Fall Set. For defense boost, the main alternative is the Sentinel Outpost. It gives less per daily special, though has a much higher defense per tile.

Forge Points:

  • Harvest Farm (Fall) Set
    • Reasons to get: Highest FP efficiency, high FP / Daily Special, good secondary rewards
    • Size: Varies, for layouts see video below or: https://mooingcatguides.com/fall-set
    • Boost: Amount varies | around 2.6-2.9 per DS | 0.58-0.67 per Tile (no roads required)
    • Other: Attack, Goods, Happiness, Coins, Supplies, Coins Boost

  • Stage of Ages (Lv1)
    • Reasons to get: Highest FP / Daily Special, great secondary rewards
    • Size: 4x4 (road required)
    • Forge Points: 4 FPs | 4 FPs / DS | 0.22 FPs / Tile (including roads)
    • Other: 7-19% Attack Boost, 15 Prev. Age Goods, Population, Happiness

  • Golden Crops Lv9
    • Reasons to get: Honestly ... probably wouldn't, but it's an alright all-rounder with fps, goods, population, etc.
    • Size: 6x4 (road required)
    • Forge Points: 9 FPs | 1.0 FPs / DS | 0.35 FPs / Tile (including roads)
    • Other: 30 Goods, 15 Guild Goods, 39-46% Supply Boost, Fragment of One Up Kit, Population, Happiness, Coins, Supplies

  • Log Cabin (Lv1)
    • Reasons to get: Honestly ... get Stage of Ages or Fall Set instead :)
    • Size: 3x3 (road required)
    • Forge Points: 3 FPs | 3.0 FPs / DS | 0.29 FPs / Tile (including roads)
    • Other: 10% Supply Boost, Population, Coins

My Recommendations: For most players I would recommend the Fall Set, it has among the best FP per tile in the game, and it also has a very good FPs per daily special rate. The Stage of Ages gives slightly more per daily special, but it's around 3 times worse when it comes to FPs per tile. It's a nice contender for the additional attack boost, but definitely not worth it in my opinion, if your focus is on FPs. I wouldn't recommend the other two alternatives, unless you only need a few more pieces for the Golden Crops and want to finish it.

Situational:

If none of the buildings above interest you, there are always some situational / nice-to-have items like the Renovation Kit and the 6h Mass Supply Rush. No Wishing Well (or shrink kit) appeared on beta.

The Menagerie is an interesting option for Goods. It gives the highest Goods per Daily Special, though a few Fall Set designs are better in terms of goods per tile.

If you are looking for Antiques Dealer fodder, the best option seems to be the Stage of Ages, at 11550 Coins and 15-25 Gems (24h).

Quest "Cheat List"

Below you'll find my "cheat list" for the quests in this event. This is not a complete list of quests, that you can find here. This is a list of quests you might need to plan ahead for, but I always recommend that you check out the complete list yourself to see if there are any other quests you might find challenging. Also, only the "difficult" part of a quest will be shown. For example, a part like "pay X coins" will not be included.

This event is quite special in that there are two concurrent questlines running in parallel after you have completed 4 story quests. This means you can work on 2 quests at the same time. The split questlines end after the rush quests, going back to 1 quest per day and 1 questline during the daily quests.

Event Mechanics

The mechanics for this event are quite simple. It's a classic "choose 1 of 3" minigame where you choose between 1 of 3 "Recipes" to bake. So let me quickly go through how that works, then I'll talk about event strategies and if you can get the main building fully leveled.

Baking (Recipes) (top)

For each turn, you get 3 recipes to choose from, with each recipe costing between 1 and 3 ingredients. Each recipe costs specific ingredients, so below you can find a list of all the ingredient costs. Each recipe has a given chance at giving the daily special, so in front of each ingredient is the chance of the daily special:

1-Ingredient Recipes:

  • 6% Apple Jams: 1 Apple
  • 8% Pumkin Spice Cookies: 1 Pumpkin
  • 10% Snickerdoodles: 1 Cinnamon
  • 10% Chocolate Chip Cookies: 1 Chocolate
  • 7% Caramel Bites: 1 Caramel

2-Ingredient Recipes:

  • 14% Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake: 1 Caramel , 1 Pumpkin
  • 13% Pumpkin Apple Muffins: 1 Pumpkin , 1 Apple
  • 10% Chocolate Fudge Brownies: 1 Chocolate , 1 Caramel
  • 8% Chocolate Cinnamon Bread: 1 Chocolate , 1 Cinnamon
  • 12% Caramel Apple: 1 Caramel , 1 Apple

3-Ingredient Recipes:

  • 15% Apple Pie: 2 Apples , 1 Cinnamon
  • 15% Pumpkin Apple Cobbler: 1 Apple , 1 Pumpkin , 1 Cinnamon
  • 10% Chocolate Caramel Cinnamon Rolls: 1 Chocolate , 1 Caramel , 1 Cinnamon
  • 14% Pumpkin Pie: 2 Pumpkins , 1 Cinnamon
  • 14% Chocolate Cake: 2 Chocolate , 1 Caramel

I'm not completely sure how the recipe selection works, but there can be more than 1 from a given group (cost), even 3 of the same group, so I believe it is completely random.

For each ingredient you use baking, you get 1 "Star" progress towards the next Grand Prize. Each Grand Prize requires 20 Stars, any excess will carry over to the next board. Stars are what counts towards League progress as well, though as 1 Ingredient = 1 Star, it's the same as saying each ingredient spent counts towards your League progress.

Event Currency: Ingredients (top)

As usual, the event currency of Ingredients is gained through the event quests. For this event you can also get 2 ingredients every day from one of the Daily Challenges (starting on day 2), so you can get up to 26 additional ingredients if you are able to complete those each day. You can also get a decent amount through incidents, so you definitely want to pick up those. In total you will get 185 Ingredients for free including Daily Challenges or 159 Ingredients without Daily Challenges (not including incidents or newsletter):

  • Starting amount: 3*5 = 15
  • Daily Logins: 15*2 = 30
  • Rush Quests: 33*2 = 66
  • Daily Quests: 14*2 = 28
  • Quest Milestones: 1*5 + 3*5 = 20
  • Daily Challenges: 13*2 = 26
  • Total: 185 Ingredients

The ingredients will be split evenly between the 5 different ingredient types: Apple , Caramel , Chocolate , Cinnamon , Pumpkin .

Leagues (top)

This event also has a league system! Like with most of these leagues, your position will be determined by how much event currency you spend during the event. For this event the leagues are directly based on the number of ingredients you spend, with each ingredient counting as 1 star for the league.

In case it's difficult to tell, in Apprentice and Professional you get 1 Sunflower Oil Press selection kit, in the Star Baker league you get 2 Sunflower Oil Press selection kits and 1 Golden Crops selection kit.

Event Strategies

To be honest, there is not a lot to this event in terms of strategies. You can play whenever you want to, the only thing that really matters is choosing the right recipe.

Choosing the right Recipe to Bake (top)

There are two primary considerations to keep in mind when choosing which recipe to bake: Optimizing for Daily Specials (or other rewards) and Balancing your Ingredients. Let's go over each in turn:

1) Optimizing for Daily Specials:

To optimize for Daily Specials, you should choose the recipe with the highest chance per ingredient. If you use FoE Helper you can use that to determine which is best, or alternatively you can do some quick maths yourself. Simply divide the 2-cost chance by 2 and the 3-cost chance by 3, and compare all the options and pick the highest. Or, you could use the list below where I've listed recipes by ingredients per Daily Special. First number is daily special chance per ingredient, second number (in brackets) is the actual daily special chance:

  • 10%     (10%) Snickerdoodles: 1 Cinnamon
  • 10%     (10%) Chocolate Chip Cookies: 1 Chocolate
  • 8%       (8%)   Pumkin Spice Cookies: 1 Pumpkin
  • 7%       (7%)   Caramel Bites: 1 Caramel
  • 7%       (14%) Pumpkin Caramel Cheesecake: 1 Caramel , 1 Pumpkin
  • 6.5%    (13%) Pumpkin Apple Muffins: 1 Pumpkin , 1 Apple
  • 6%       (6%)   Apple Jams: 1 Apple
  • 6%       (12%) Caramel Apple: 1 Caramel , 1 Apple
  • 5%       (10%) Chocolate Fudge Brownies: 1 Chocolate , 1 Caramel
  • 5%       (15%) Apple Pie: 2 Apples , 1 Cinnamon
  • 5%       (15%) Pumpkin Apple Cobbler: 1 Apple , 1 Pumpkin , 1 Cinnamon
  • 4.67%  (14%) Pumpkin Pie: 2 Pumpkins , 1 Cinnamon
  • 4.67%  (14%) Chocolate Cake: 2 Chocolate , 1 Caramel
  • 4%       (8%)   Chocolate Cinnamon Bread: 1 Chocolate , 1 Cinnamon
  • 3.33%  (10%) Chocolate Caramel Cinnamon Rolls: 1 Chocolate , 1 Caramel , 1 Cinnamon

2) Balancing Ingredients:

Each recipe costs a fixed amount of specific ingredients, so choosing the same recipes too often could lead to uneven distribution of ingredients in your inventory. Early on in the event this isn't that big of a deal, but once you get to the end of the event this could mean that you are unable to spend all your ingredients. For example, If you have 5 Apples, 7 Caramel, 0 Cinnamon, 0 Chocolate and 3 Pumpkin, and all 3 current recipes require at least one Cinnamon or Chocolate, you would not be able to spend your remaining 15 ingredients, which means lost Daily Specials and Grand Prizes.

To avoid this, you should sometimes pick a suboptimal option for daily specials in order to balance out your inventory. For example, if you are low on Pumpkins and can choose between Pumpkin Spice Cookies (1 Pumpkin), Caramel Apple (1 Caramel 1 Apple), and Pumpkin Pie (2 Pumpkins, 1 Cinnamon), it might be better to go for the Caramel Apple recipe, despite it being worse than Pumpkin Spice Cookies for daily specials (6% vs 8% per ingredient).

Can you get the Sunflower Oil Press fully leveled for free? (top)

A common question during events is if you can get the main building fully leveled without spending diamonds. For this event the short answer is maybe, but not guaranteed. Getting it fully leveled for free depends on luck, if you are on an old world it should be possible, on a new world less likely.

To get the main building fully leveled you need 9 levels. You get 3 from Milestones, and as the Event Surprise Box has been removed, you need the final 6 from Grand Prizes, or 5 from Grand Prizes and 1 from League Rewards. Getting 6 Upgrades from the Grand Prizes requires 220 Stars / Ingredients, which is very unlikely to get for free. You will get 185 Ingredients for free if you do Daily Challenges, and while you can get ingredients from Incidents, getting another 35 is very unlikely. You also have to consider that you need to spend all your ingredients, which is not guaranteed. So, this means you can not get all upgrades for free from Grand Prizes.

The only remaining option is to get 5 upgrades from Grand Prizes (180 ingredients required) and 1 upgrade from League rewards. To get this you need to be in the top 20% of active players in your world, which means 80% of players will not be able to get the main building fully leveled. It's not as bad as it sounds (still plenty bad if you ask me), as most of those 80% will just be casual players who wouldn't get the main building fully leveled regardless. On older worlds, getting in the top 20% should be doable for free if you do the Daily Challenges and pick up Incidents, but on newer worlds that is not guaranteed at all. New worlds tend to be more active with more diamond spenders, which will likely bring the required Ingredients for top 20% up.

So if you are on an old world it might be possible to get the main building fully leveled for free, but on a new world likely not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How many diamonds per Daily Special? (top)

There are two slightly different answers here, one assuming you can spend ingredients as you wish to always pick the top answer, and a more realistic answer where you compromise a bit more to balance your ingredients. The first one is simple, the second is a bit trickier and requires more guesswork.

If we assume random selection of recipes, the average chance for daily special per ingredient is 8% when always choosing the best option. That is 1 Daily Special per ~12 ingredients. The average daily special chance per ingredient with random selection of recipe is 6%, or 1 Daily Special per 17 ingredients. The actual number of ingredients required per daily special is probably somewhere between these two numbers, I think 15 ingredients is a good conservative estimate, and it also makes our calculations easier.

You can buy 30 ingredients for 2450 Diamonds, so if we use the 15 ingredients number that means each additional daily special should cost:

  • 2450 Diamonds / 2 = 1225 Diamonds.

If you can bake more of the best recipes it'll be lower, if you have to bake the worse recipes it will be higher.

Using the same number for daily specials from the free currency, you are looking at around 12-13 daily specials on average. So I'd say a realistic expectation is between 10 and 15 daily specials from the event.

How many diamonds per additional Sunflower Oil Press? (top)

This is quite an easy one to answer. For the calculations here I will assume you got 200 ingredients for free (and get the final level for 1st building from league reward). You need 9 kits for the next fully leveled building, which from 200 ingredients means another 17 Grand Prizes, or 340 ingredients. You might be able to get into the top league spending this amount of ingredients, on beta the limit was 302 ingredients. So assuming you get into the top league, you only need 300 ingredients. For this, you need:

  • 300 Ingredients = 10*30 Ingredients = 10*2450 = 24 500 Diamonds
  • 340 Ingredients = 11*30 + 1*15 Ingredients = 11*2450 + 1400 = 28 350 Diamonds

Beyond this you need 18 Grand Prizes per additional Sunflower Oil Press, or 360 Ingredients:

  • 360 Ingredients = 12*30 Ingredients = 12*2450 = 29 400 Diamonds.

So around 25k to 30k Diamonds for additional Sunflower Oil Presses.
