In this guide I will show you how to get Modern Era (ME) units in Industrial Age (INA)! Getting these units is quite straight forward, especially if you are able to fight all provinces. If you wanna see me fight all the ME provinces, check out this video:
In total you will be able to get the following higher age units:
Modern Era: 2 Paratroopers (Ranged), 2 Mechanized Infantry (Fast), 7 Bazooka Team (Light), 2 Battle Tank (Heavy).
There are no goods required as you do not need to negotiate any sectors or pay any for quests. If you want to negotiate sectors instead of fighting, you need to check the wiki for costs:
That technology can be any technology. In addition to that, you also need to build various buildings, so you need to make sure to either have researched them or gotten enough from GE, Events, Daily Challenges etc. You should already have all of these researched, but I'll just leave them here anyways :)

2 Current Age Military Buildings
3 Current Age OR 6 Previous Age Military Buildings
1 Flag (HMA Decoration) OR 1 Sailmaker (CA Production Building)
3 Current Age OR 6 Previous Age Residential Buildings
2 Current Age OR 4 Previous Age Production Buildings
Continent Map Overview
When it comes to the continent map, there are not a lot of restrictions or things you need to be careful about. Above you will find my suggested scouting and acquiring order, but you can pretty much take provinces in whatever order you want. If you do a different order the quests below will be in a different order, but you will still get the same quests. With that said, if you want the most units you need to make sure you fight the first two and last two provinces. You don't technically have to fight the last province Toimuro (11 on the image above), but if you want to negotiate that you have to fully take province 10 Hiromaguchi and get the final 4 units before negotiating any Toimuro sectors.
By fighting the first two provinces you will trigget a side quest where you can get 4 Bazooka Team, which will make fighting of provinces easier. I still prefer the PE tanks, but as you only have 2 of them (if you have any at all) they'll quickly be damaged, so having the 4 Bazooka as well makes fighting easier!
Fighting the last two provinces will give you 2 Mechanized Infantry and 2 Battle Tanks. As mentioned above, if you want to negotiate the last province make sure you get all of these units before starting on that.
Modern Era Story Quests
Below you'll find a list of all the ME story quests in the order you get them if you follow my suggested path on the continent map. If you do it in a different order you will get these in a different order as well, but it shouldn't matter in regards to the units you can get!
1) Reach the Modern Era Continent Map!
2) Scout the first province.
3) Fight a sector of Inashu. If you don't fight you won't get the first 4 Bazooka Teams (ME light units). Spend 18 FPs.
4) Fight all remaining sectors of Inashu. If you don't fight you won't get the first 4 Bazooka Teams (ME light units)
5) Gather 330k Supplies & Recruit 2 current or 4 previous era units. You can easily do this in GE, or alternatively GBG/PvP Arena, Royal Bathhouse (Egypt Settlement Reward), or simply through military buildings.
6) Gain population and make people enthusiastic. You can easily gain the population by placing and selling buildings, IA Archer Barrack is a nice and simple option, but any military / production building will work. You can use a tavern boost to make your people enthusiastic if you can't do it with your buildings.
7) Scout the next province.
8) Fight 2 sectors of Natsuishu. If you don't fight you won't get the first 4 Bazooka Teams (ME light units).
9) Fight 4 more sectors of Natsuishu. If you don't fight you won't get the first 4 Bazooka Teams (ME light units). Recruit 4 current or 8 previous era units. You can do this in GE, GBG, PvP Arena, Royal Bathhouse (Egypt Settlement Reward), Events, and/or simply through military buildings.
10) Fight the remaining sectors of Natsuishu. If you don't fight you won't get the first 4 Bazooka Teams (ME light units). Build a military building from your current age (you don't want to waste a tech here).
11) Spend 20 FPs & Delete 2 current or 5 previous era units.
11 Side Quest) After completing the quest above you will trigger this side quest. Recruit 16 current age units to get the first ME units! You can do this in GE, GBG, PvP Arena, Royal Bathhouse (Egypt Settlement Reward), Events, and/or simply through military buildings.
12) Scout the next two provinces. Order doesn't really matter, but if you follow my recommended path scout the eastern one (island) first.
13) Fight / Nego a sector of either the western or eastern province you scouted. The following quest order is based on doing the eastern side (Chigikawa) first. Personally I left the western province (Kyushima) untouched until after completing the eastern questline. That is probably not necessary, but if you take it now you might get a different quest order.
14) Infiltrate 3 sectors of Chigikawa. If you want to save coins you can acquire (fight / nego) all sectors instead and this quest (and a few following ones) will be auto-completed.
15) Fight / Nego 4 sectors of Chigikawa.
16) Pay the resources.
17) Research a technology. This can be any of your saved up technologies.
18) Fight / Nego 9 sectors of Chigikawa.
19) Fight / Nego all sectors of Chigikawa.
20) Scout the province below Chigikawa.
21) Spend 21 FPs.
22) Fight / Nego 3 sectors of Igujima.
23) Fight / Nego all sectors of Igujima. Second task requires you to either produce the 15-minute production in the Sailmaker (CA), or you can build the Flag (HMA) decoration. Flag decoration is definitely easiest, but either will work :) This is the final quest of the Eastern questline.
24) We're now back to the Western questline. Fight / Nego a sector of Kyushima. Gather 10 goods.
25) Infiltrate 3 sectors of Kyushima. If you want to save coins you can acquire (fight / nego) all sectors instead and this quest (and a few following ones) will be auto-completed.
26) Fight / Nego 5 sectors of Kyushima.
27) Recruit 4 current or 8 previous era units. You can do this in GE, GBG, PvP Arena, Royal Bathhouse (Egypt Settlement Reward), Events, and/or simply through military buildings.
28) Fight / Nego all sectors of Kyushima. Complete 10 5-minute productions (in any production building, also including "special" production buildings like Terrace Farms, Sleigh Builders, etc)
29) Scout the next province (Igioka). Fight / Nego 2 sectors of Igioka.
30) Fight / Nego all sectors of Igioka.
31) Scout the next province (Igamoto). Fight / Nego 2 sectors of Igamoto.
32) Fight / Nego all sectors of Igamoto.
33) Scout the next province (Higematsu). Fight / Nego all sectors of Higematsu.
34) Scout the next province (Kibakuguchi). Spend 23 FPs.
35) Fight / Nego 3 sectors of Kibakuguchi.
36) Build a current age military building (you don't want to waste a tech here) & Recruit 5 current or 12 previous era units. You can do this in GE, GBG, PvP Arena, Royal Bathhouse (Egypt Settlement Reward), Events, and/or simply through military buildings.
37) Fight / Nego all sectors of Kibakuguchi.
38) Build 3 current age OR 6 previous age residential buildings. Build 2 current OR 4 previous age production buildings.
39) Scout the 2 last provinces.
40) Fight 2 sectors of either Hiromaguchi or Toimuro. If you want to negotiate one of these provinces only fight 2 sectors of the other province now, do not start negotiating yet. If you're fighting both you can fight both at the same time.
41) Spend 11 FPs.
42) Fight 2 more sectors of the province you started in quest 40. If you want to negotiate one of these provinces do not start negotiating yet. If you're fighting both you can fight both at the same time.
43) You will only get this quest if you only fought in quest 40 and 42. Have 3 current age OR 5 previous age military buildings. Recruit 5 current or 12 previous era units. You can do this in GE, GBG, PvP Arena, Royal Bathhouse (Egypt Settlement Reward), Events, and/or simply through military buildings.
43 Side Quest) This side quest doesn't have any impact on story quests, but I'd recommend completing it for the rewards! You can abort it if you want.
44) Gather 280k supplies. Fight 2 more sectors of the province you started in quest 40. If you want to negotiate one of these provinces do not start negotiating yet. If you're fighting both you can fight both at the same time.
45) Fight the remaining sectors of the province you started in quest 40. If you want to negotiate one of these provinces do not start negotiating yet. If you're fighting both you can fight both at the same time.
46) Gather 240k supplies and Have 8 current or 12 previous era units.
47) Gain 2000 Happiness. Placing and selling decorations is an easy option (BA Memorial for example), or you could for example place/upgrade roads. Delete 2 current or 5 previous age units.
48) Fight / Negotiate the remaining sectors of Hiromaguchi or Toimuro (the one you haven't taken already). Only at this quest should you start negotiating the last 2 provinces, if you want to negotiate. If you're only fighting you can do that whenever.
49) Spend 80 FPs.
50) And here we go, we're now ready to progress to the PME continent map & story quests!
